"Since starting my studies here at Bangkok University in January, I have already had many great experiences that I would like to share. Thailand is a country of friendliness in every way. As soon as you get off the plane, you can feel the happiness of the people. Bangkok is a very large and international city with diverse cultural differences in the center of Southeast Asia. Especially at the beginning, Bangkok will present you with many new cultural impressions that will only help and strengthen you afterwards.
Bangkok University (BU) has a very large campus, which is located in a quieter district in the north of Bangkok. The university consists of numerous buildings with seminar rooms, public lounges, libraries, restaurants, cafés, a cinema and sports facilities, all of which are easily accessible by campus shuttle. The university offers a wide range of courses as well as numerous optional workshops and events. The lectures and teaching units are mostly held by international lecturers whose English is easy to understand. The courses are structured differently and include mid-term examinations, group assignments, homework and final examinations, each of which contributes a percentage to the final grade.
Life in Thailand also brings challenges, such as the spicy food, but you get used to it over time. There are many beautiful markets where you can try out numerous new dishes and broaden your culinary horizons. You should be careful when looking for accommodation and always make sure that it is not a scam. It is best to find student accommodation close to the university. These are very attractively priced and the university is within walking distance.
In general, I highly recommend Bangkok as a destination for a semester abroad, as there is hardly a better city where you are welcomed so warmly as a student. It is very easy to make lots of new friends and have a great time in the always warm weather. Another plus point is the favorable price ratio compared to Europe. Bangkok is also an excellent hub for cheap flights to neighboring countries such as China, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia or Singapore. Nothing stands in the way of a weekend on the beach in the south of Thailand either. Take the chance and get to know Southeast Asian culture!"
