Top places for MCI teams in the 2013 CAST Award

MCI graduates successful with innovative ideas

This year, too, the Tyrol’s students and graduates were invited to submitted exciting business propositions for the annual CAST Award. The 58 entries submitted by 118 participants again included several successful ideas proposed by students of Management Center Innsbruck.

Logging innovation convinces the jury
Stefan Leitner, a graduate of the MCI Department of Mechatronics - Mechanical Engineering, worked with his father to develop a fully automatic compact cable tensioner for logging operations. The device significantly reduces the workload and greatly increases safety at the same time. The idea won the second prize and 1,500 euros. Stefan Leitner, who is currently in the USA for his semester abroad, received the award via a video link.

Another prize for the MCI Creativity Award winner
The third prize went to Thomas Senfter, a graduate in Environmental, Process & Energy Engineering and winner of the MCI Creativity Award 2013, for his innovative particulate metering process. Last year, the research paper in which the process was presented was awarded the Ministry of Science Prize. His third place in the 2013 Cast Award is worth 800 euros in prize money.

Great potential in the Tyrol
Dr. Florian Becke, Executive Director of CAST, was impressed by the high standard and professionalism of the many ideas submitted: “You can feel the potential of the business location!”
