Excellent project management: prestigious award to MCI students

The PMA Junior Award goes to a group of social work students at MCI

As a leading Austrian association Projekt Management Austria (PMA) annually rewards outstanding young talents with the PMA Junior Award. This year the distinction goes to a group of deeply committed MCI students, who thus bring the award to Tyrol for the first time.

Within the scope of their project with the title “Traumberuf Sozialarbeit” (social work as a dream job), the 15 social work students conducted a study on burnout in social services under the supervision of project manager Renate Gruber and MCI editor Mag. Barbara Laske. The project involved the planning of all necessary aspects from the development and implementation of the study to the scientific interpretation of its results.

The diverse submissions of project plans and other relevant documents were evaluated in a demanding selection process. In addition, the participants took part in a one-hour interview, which gave them the opportunity to present their projects.

The jury was especially satisfied with the consistent and thoughtful application of modern project management, which also forms the basis for the results of the project. Brigitte Schaden, Chair of PMA and jury member is enthusiastic about the professionalism of the winner team: “The project ‘Traumberuf Sozialarbeit’ also impresses with its exceptional commitment towards all environments involved as well as with its highly sensitive approach to the delicate topic. An exemplary documentation completes the outstanding implementation of the project.”

Project Manager Renate Gruber adds: “Our primary concern is to provide students already during their studies with the skills and tools they require in practice. The award is proof of this concern and, moreover, demonstrates the importance of project management skills in the field of social work.”
