MCI students visit ‘Höpperger Ressourcenpark’

Renowned waste disposal company supports Management Center Innsbruck: students of Environmental, Process & Energy Engineering experience waste management in practice

The visit to Höpperger, leading waste disposal company of Tyrol, is integral part of the course “Recycling Processes” offered within the frame of the MCI study program in Environmental, Process & Energy Engineering. Presenting an overview of the development of waste management, the course culminates in the excursion to the ‘Höpperger Ressourcenpark’. The sorting plants of the ‘Tiroler Recycling Gesellschaft’ for lightweight packaging and the sorting plants of the ‘Elektro-Altgeräte Register’ for waste electrical equipment are among the most advanced in Europe. They perfectly illustrate the degree of material purity obtained by the efficient combination of technology and manual sorting and required from sustainable waste management. The use of appropriate containers and trucks is also discussed.

Along with comprehensive and practically relevant projects, excursions such as the present take a special place in each MCI study program. On the one hand, they allow students to complement their theoretical knowledge with practical insights and provide an appropriate frame for questions and the exchange with experienced professionals. On the other hand, they enable industrial partners to profit from the creative minds of our students and MCI’s expertise in research, technology, and innovation.
