Practical Learning has a huge priority at the MCI. Especially at MCiT, we get insights into the world of work through collaborations with different companies and are able to transform the generated information into praxis. For this reason, we, Anna and Amira, want to give you impressions of one project.

With a company of our choice, we analyzed a process and were able to collect improvement suggestions for the purposes of the course “process management” with lecturer Dr. Christian Ploder in the third semester.

In the beginning, we learned the basics of process management as well as we worked on process optimization. Based on an experimental game, processes were understandably elucidated and with individual ideas improved. Furthermore, important topics like Linear production, Lean Production and Supplier Integration were discussed.

In the further course, our task was to find a company with which we could work together on a process. Our choice was the preparation process of an offer of the company „Adler-Werk Lackfabrik Johann Berghofer GmbH & Co KG“, located in Schwaz. In addition to a tour in the company, we also received clear insights into internal company procedures. Our task was to identify problems of the process and then to document them. In groups, we discussed optimization suggestions until we found the right solutions. Based on our ideas, we have built a BPMN 2.0 diagram to illustrate the improved process. We recorded the whole procedure and designed a quality management manual.

The close cooperation, as well as the insights into the company, were very exciting and instructive. Especially the practical connection made learning for us easier.
