“Silicon Valley is where the brainiest ideas meet the smartest money”. This is how The Economist summed up the essence of the world’s most vibrant and innovative tech-hub. 19 of our final semester MCiT master students are travelling to the Bay Area to experience the 8th annual MCiT Entrepreneurship Course Silicon Valley, from April 14-25th 2019, organized by Prof. Dr. Peter J. Mirski.

Giving everyone “universal knowledge to all knowledge” is the Internet Archive’s mission. Founder Brewster Kahle personally guided our students through his “sanctuary” based in a former church. From 1996 on, it has established the world’s largest digital library, including snapshots of every major website. If you wanted to know how MCI’s homepage looked back in the days, here you go: https://web.archive.org/web/20020124090618/http://www.mci.at/://www.mci.at/

At NetApp, our entrepreneurial students discussed topics such as changing the world with data, NetApp's digital transformation story, and making most out of company data with AI and machine learning. Thanks to Ginger Dolgow for organizing their inspiring visit!

In the afternoon, Intel offered highly interesting insights behind the scenes of Silicon Valley's high-tech industry: for example, its ultrapure, highly automated silicon chip factory and its innovative technologies that lay the technical foundation for new ways of working, learning and communicating.

IDEO is regarded as the dynamic example of further development and change through design. It has designed iconic products like the Apple Mouse. Elger Oberwelz introduced our students to the core design principles at IDEO and how IDEO applies design thinking to design products, services and digital experiences.
