Handl Tyrol Scholarship awarded to MCI students

Three students receive Handl Tyrol scholarships and visit the plant in Pians

Three students from our Department of Bio- & Food Technology headed off to Pians in the Tyrolean Oberland on Friday, March 1, 2024. There, the students were able to spend a special morning at one of Handl Tyrol's five plants as part of the Handl Scholarship award ceremony.

Michaela Kammerer, bachelor's student in Bio- & Food Technology, and the students of the master's program in Food Technology & Nutrition Theresa Ziegltrum and Daniel Siegl have applied for the Handl Tyrol Performance Scholarship in 2023 and received an amount of € 750 (bachelor's) and € 1,000 (master's). Furthermore They were also invited to a personal meeting with Managing Director Karl Christian Handl, in Pians, but a tour of the production facilities was also production was also part of the company tour.

The Handl Tyrol Company is an Austrian family business and is now in its fourth generation. In the meantime The company now has five sites and employs over 700 people.

Our visit was announced in the entrance area of the site announced on a large screen and the MCI was warmly welcomed. After a welcoming speech by Christian Handl, Josef Amprosi (Operations Manager), Carmen Geiger (R & D), Celina File (Employees & Social Employees & Social Affairs) and Gerhard Kreiseder (Head of Human Resources) were welcomed.

The family business is characterized not only by its courage, but also by recognition, fairness, and honesty towards contractual partners and its employees. Handl Tyrol for example, won the Fabrik Award Austria in 2020.

The MCI and Handl Tyrol have also been working closely together for more than ten years in the area of research & development. This involves working together on issues in research & development through projects and final theses. Several alumni have also found their way into the Handl Tyrol company and are now in responsible positions.
