Social workers with a professional, self-reliant, and results-oriented approach are required now more than ever. Graduates of the degree program are qualified to recognize social problems and provide scientifically sound and interdisciplinary solutions that are sustainable, effective, and efficient.

The study program stands out due to the quality of its content and through adopting a scientific, practice-orientated and international approach. The close cooperation with partners from local, national or international social work agencies and integrative internships enables students to gain practical experience already during their Bachelor’s studies.

In addition to an academic qualification in action science and appropriate methods, the curriculum provides relevant knowledge of law, psychology, sociology, political sciences, and education. The students thus acquire an interdisciplinary perspective and learn how to link and apply their theoretical knowledge from these areas in practice. The Social Work program also places a special focus on personal development and intercultural competencies to prepare the graduates for a career in Social Work in an international context.

Social Work, Social Policy and Management | Master

The study program Social Work, Social Policy and Management has been expanded to include future-oriented topics. The study program deals with the most current topics. Practical projects and case studies in cooperation with established institutions ensure an up-to-date and practice-oriented transfer of knowledge.

With regard to the requirements of the professional field, the study program combines the three central focuses of Social Work, Social Policy and Social Management. At the beginning of the program, students also decide in which of these three focal areas, summed up to 15 ECTS, they would like to focus on from the second to the fourth semester.

A career-friendly time model and a combination of classroom teaching, MCI webinars and guided self-study provide students with excellent opportunities to pursue a career during their studies,  acquire diverse professional experience in social institutions or combine their studies with a  life outside of Innsbruck.
