From September 12 to 15, 2022, the XVI Biotechnet Summer School in cooperation with the I. Ulysseus COMPASS Summer School & Researchers Workshop on Food, Biotechnology & Circular Economy took place at MCI | The Entrepreneurial School®. For 16 years, the Summer School has been held alternately at different university locations. Organizing universities of the Biotechnet Summer School are: UNIPA (University of Palermo), FHNW (University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland), HES-SO (University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland), ZHAW (Zurich University of Applied Sciences) and the MCI | The Entrepreneurial School®. All these universities are members of the Biotechnet Switzerland network.
This year also students and scientists from the European University Ulysseus participated in the Summer School, which further increased the scope and internationality of this event. Over the four days, more than 50 lectures were held on a variety of topics, ranging from Food Technology to Medical Biotechnology, Molecular & Cell Biology and Circular Economy. Speakers from 14 universities and companies presented their current research to colleagues and students in short lectures. Breaks and get together-activities were used to further exchange ideas and contacts.
While some of the scientists participated in the COMPASS researcher workshop, the students were able to get to know various exciting institutions and companies in a career workshop, hosting Swiss Biotech Association, MCI Career Services, Roche Diagnostics GmbH, Dr. Schär AG, VTU Group GmbH, Handl Tyrol GmbH and BASF SE. Of course, there was also enough time to explore autumn Innsbruck and its surroundings. The inspiring, exciting content of the lectures, the enthusiasm for science and the new networks that have emerged are immeasurable.
