As part of the practical training, the Department for Medical & Health Technologies allows students from all degree programs to take part in exciting excursions offered by medical technology and sports technology companies. That enables the students to gain insight into companies in the industry and possible work fields. Furthermore, they are able to network for their professional internships, final theses or later professional life. This week, our master and bachelor students visited the innovative company BHS Technologies based in Innsbruck.
BHS Technologies is a company founded in Innsbruck in the medical technology sector. They are working on the development and production of the "RoboticScope". The RoboticScope is a perspective-changing 3-D microscope, which is used in various surgical procedures and is intended to support and assist surgeons during operations.
During the excursion, the BHS team warmly welcomed the students. After the presentation of the company and its history by CEO Michael Santek, CSO Gregor Burger took over the next part of the tour. Gregor Burger showed the students the R&D department and gave them an overview of everything behind the RoboticScope and its development. Afterwards, there was an open exchange between Gregor Burger and the students in the common room of BHS.
After the discussion, a guided tour of the entire company building followed. The tour of the production center, where the RoboticScope is produced, was particularly fascinating. The students were able to experience at first-hand how a RoboticScope is developed and then fabricated. At the end of the excursion, the students had the unique opportunity to work with the RoboticScope.
