Position: Head of Department and Studies of Medical & Health Technologies
Area of responsibility: Daniel manages the department and programs of Medical, Health & Sports Technologies at MCI. In teaching and research, he is responsible for the field of clinical medical technology.
Education / Career: Daniel completed his diploma studies in mechanical engineering with specializations in biomedical technology and precision engineering at the University of Stuttgart. He spent a study abroad semester at the Technical University in Prague. To complete his studies, he went to Winterthur, Switzerland, where he worked as an intern and diploma student in the field of modeling and simulation of cruciate ligaments in the human knee joint at Zimmer Biomet. After moving to MED-EL in Innsbruck, Daniel was initially responsible as a project manager and later as a team leader in research and development for surgical instruments and accessories for cochlear implants. For several years, he commuted to Hannover, where he worked as the scientific director of a research center for human hearing and its clinical restoration. During this time, Daniel wrote a part-time dissertation on digital anatomical models for surgical simulation and was awarded a Ph.D. in human biology from the Hannover Medical School. Finally, Daniel became a senior employee and group leader at MED-EL, responsible for research and development in electrodes, drug-releasing implants, and technology-supported surgical techniques for cochlear implants. For some time now, Daniel has been teaching and researching at MCI and has been appointed department and study program director of Medical & Health Technologies.

Favorite task / area: Daniel loves working at the interface between exciting technology and the fascinating human body. With his extensive industry experience, he manages all stages of developing a medical product from the initial idea to serially manufactured standard therapy. He is passionate about passing on his knowledge to future generations of medical technology professionals. Creating digital models of the human body and using them for the education of medical professionals, personalized medicine, and the development of future medical technologies are particularly important to him.
