Can the deformation behavior of a ski be simulated?

Research project for the development of models to simulate the mechanical behavior of skis together with HEAD Sport GmbH

The construction of a modern alpine ski consists of a wide variety of materials. By deliberately exploiting the mechanical properties of these materials, targeted deformation behavior is achieved in the end. But can this also be predicted beforehand using mechanical simulations in order to subsequently be able to carry out optimizations? This question is to be answered within the project, conducted by project leader Franz-Josef Falkner together with student staff. The project is financed by HEAD Sport GmbH based in Kennelbach / Vorarlberg.
