MCI Innovation to support Olympic Luge Athletes

Over the last 18 months, Rodel Austria and the MCI have conducted several projects with a sports technology background. All these projects aim to contribute to making the athletes – already belonging to the best in the world - even faster and set them up for success. In preparation for the Olympics, the project “Luge Start” was launched. In this project, an innovative tool to optimize the luge start was developed together by the MCI and Rodel Austria. During the start training, the tool is used by trainers to visualize performance-related data together with a video of the athlete performing the start. Moreover, the developed tool allows athletes and trainers to judge their performance on-site and provides feedback on body pose through video analysis. In this way, improvements for the luge start may be tailored to the needs of each individual athlete effectively during a training session.
