Awarding Scholarship of Excellence

We are delighted with the outstanding academic achievements of the students and graduates of the Department of Business & Management

The scholarship of excellence according to the Study Support Act (StudFG) serves to recognize outstanding academic achievements and is offered once a year for students and graduates. The Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research has provided our Department of Business & Management (with the Bachelor programs Wirtschaft & Management for Professionals and Business & Management as well as the Master program International Business & Management) with € 29,250 for this purpose.

113 students and graduates have applied. We are happy with 39 persons, who will receive € 750,- in the next days. € 750,- are a bit more than the tuition fees for one year, so you can think that the newly awarded students or graduates have studied with us for one year for free, but not for nothing.

All achievements in the academic year 2021/2022 are taken into account. This means that all 60 ECTS, which comprise the curriculum of the respective study plan in the winter semester 2021/22 and in the summer semester 2022, must be completed.

So what are the requirements to receive such a merit scholarship?

  • Compliance with the eligibility period (§18 StudFG) of the respective study section (proper enrollment in the respective last study year), taking into account any important reasons (§19 StudFG).
  • Possession of Austrian citizenship or equal status within the meaning of §4 StudFG. Equal status to Austrian students is granted to
    • EEA citizens.
    • Third-country nationals, if they have already been residing in Austria "continuously and legally" for a sufficient period of time (long-term residence permit).
    • Stateless persons, if the student has already been subject to unlimited income tax in Austria for at least five years together with one parent before the start of the study program (submission of a copy of the social security statement and the registration slip).
    • Convention refugees, if proof of refugee status is presented (passport, notification).
  • The grade point average of the final grade used for assessment in the previous academic year is not worse than 2.0 (weighted according to ECTS).
  • In the case of a completed Master or Bachelor examination, this was also completed with "excellent" or "with distinction" (this is only relevant for graduation years).

We are delighted with the top performers in our department and look forward to celebrating their outstanding academic achievements with them. They are wonderful multipliers of our three study programs. With their knowledge, which they bring into the study program but also carry outwards, they make others curious and awaken in a talented and motivated social environment the desire to study with us: be it in the Bachelor programs Business & Management or Wirtschaft & Management for Professionals but also in the Master program International Business & Management. And if we continue to have such fabulous students and graduates, studying and teaching at the Department of Business & Management will be great fun for everyone – including fellow students and especially the professors.
