Austrian students and
students from EEA states

Austrian students as well as students from EEA states (under certain conditions) have the opportunity to receive financial support from the study grant authorities. Funding is available for studies in Austria as well as for semester abroad.

The öh mci provides a wide range of financial support and services for students. These include funding for social issues, personal consultations, free plagiarism checks, and assistance with initiatives and projects.

International students (full-degree)

International students (full-degree) , who are citizens of countries outside the European Union and the European Economic Area, can avail of a range of prestigious scholarships.

We aim to reward outstanding achievement and support you make a positive impact on your studies and careers.

Find the right scholarship from the lists below to benefit your future. Applications for different scholarships are possible, but an applicant can only be awarded one scholarship.

MCI Scholarships

For Bachelor's and Master's degree programs

Our MCI scholarships are partial scholarships and may cover up to 50% and more of your tuition fee. Upon successful completion of your admission interview, you will be automatically ranked for the relevant MCI Scholarship. The scholarship value will be deducted from the tuition fee and not be disbursed directly to the successful applicant. Details on the stipend will be stated in your admission letter.

Partner University Scholarship

  • Students coming from MCI Partner Universities and are citizens of Non EU-EEA countries; these are countries outside the European Union and the European Economic Area

  • For all masters' programs (except Executive programs)

  • Available for students who are required to pay the current annual tuition fee

  • 60% of the tuition fee for the entire duration of studies

High Potential Scholarship

  • Citizens of Non-EU-EEA countries; these are citizens of countries outside the European Union and the European Economic Area

  • For all bachelors‘ and masters' programs (except Executive programs)

  • Available for students who are required to pay the current annual tuition fee  

  • 50% of the tuition fee for the entire duration of studies

Science & Tech Scholarship

  • Citizens of Non-EU-EEA countries; these are citizens of countries outside the European Union and the European Economic Area

  • For engineering and life science disciplines only (except Executive programs)

  • Available for students who are required to pay the current annual tuition fee  

  • 50% of the tuition fee for the entire duration of studies

MCI Merit-Based Scholarships

For Bachelor's Master's and Executive Education degree programs

These scholarships support students who have been engaging in specific activities and are committed to pursue them for the betterment of communities. Some of those scholarships are also citizenship-based. MCI Merit-Based Scholarships cover between 50% and 90 % of your tuition fees. The scholarship value will be deducted from the tuition fee and not be disbursed directly to the successful applicant.

The scholarship terms and conditions for Executive master's programs may vary.

In order to apply for any of these Merit-based scholarships, you have to first submit your application for admission to your selected study program, whereupon you will receive a confirmation of your application. Next, you have to upload this confirmation of your application alongside the required documents as stated in the respective scholarship flyers.

Ban Ki-moon Scholarship

  • Students who have been engaged and committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aim to further engage with as well as promote these goals during their studies

  • For MCI Executive master's program: All nationals

  • For all other MCI bachelors' and masters' programs: Nationals of Non-EU-EEA countries

  • Application Deadline: March 31

  • Students who have been engaged in activities relating to Entrepreneurship, Society and Good Governance and aim to further engage with as well as promote these goals during their studies

  • For students from South Africa

  • For all masters' programs (including executive master's program)

  • Students who have been engaged in activities relating to promoting freedom, democracy and good governance and aim to further engage with as well as promote these goals during their studies

  • For students from Belarus and other Eastern European countries

  • Application Deadline: March 31

  • Students who have been engaged in activities to foster inclusive social and economic development and aim to further engage with as well as promote these goals during their studies

  • For students from Africa

  • For all master's programs

Transatlantic Scholarship

In collaboration with the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation (AMPF) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Austria (AmCham Austria).

  • Students who have been engaged in activities related to promoting democracy, global stability and economic growth and aim to further engage with as well as promote these goals during their studies

  • For students from North-America (US, Canada, Mexico)

  • For all master's programs (including executive master's program)

  • Application Deadline: March 31

  • For migrants enrolled in regular study programs

  • Partial scholarships for students from Africa, Asia, and Latin America

  • For students studying in Austria

  • The application deadline is usually during the month of April

Questions & Answers

Is it possible to apply for two or more scholarships?

Yes, multiple applications are welcome, provided you include a plausible reason in your motivation letter. However, please note that scholarships cannot be combined, and each applicant is eligible to receive only one scholarship.

How can I apply for one of the three MCI Scholarships (Partner University, High Potential, or Science & Tech)?

Upon successful completion of your admission interview, you will automatically be considered and ranked for the relevant MCI Scholarship. The scholarship value will be deducted directly from your tuition fee and will not be disbursed to you. Details about the scholarship will be included in your admission letter.

Will I receive a confirmation email after submitting my application for one or more of the scholarships?

Once you submit your application for one or more scholarships, it will be reviewed. Please note that no additional confirmation email will be sent.

When will I receive feedback on whether I have been awarded a MCI Merit-Based Scholarship?

The evaluation process for MCI Merit-Based Scholarships is completed by mid-April each year.
