Learning Goals

In order to ensure the transfer of learning and to enable students to develop relevant competencies, MCI has defined clear cross-curricular learning goals. These describe, in detail, the knowledge and skills acquired by our graduates on completion of their studies at MCI.

Stylized globe of white grid lines on an orange circle symbolizes basic business knowledge and skills in general management

Information Literacy

Our graduates can find, evaluate, and responsibly use information from a variety of (digital) sources.

Symbol of a white labyrinth on an orange circle shows adequate problem-solving skills

Responsible Decision Making

Inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, our graduates can make decisions that are ecologically sustainable, economically responsible, and socially equitable.

Three white gear wheels on an orange circle symbolize basic knowledge and skills for scientific work

Entrepreneurship

Our graduates demonstrate proficiency in applying entrepreneurial thinking and strategies to identify market opportunities, solve complex problems, and create innovative solutions, considering ethical issues.

Learning Goals Management, Communication & IT

Upon graduation our students will have the ability to link management, communication and IT know-how.

Our students will contribute to the workforce with their ability to identify and implement state-of-the-art IT solutions to support business strategies.

Our students will make a difference through their ability to realize projects at the junction of Management, Communication and IT.

Studying abroad

One of the most essential components of MCI study programs is their international orientation. This is reflected not only in the curriculum and assigned projects, but also in the backgrounds of our faculty and students. Each program also includes the opportunity for students to spend a semester abroad at one of MCI’s many partner institutions.

Internship

At MCI, each program of study requires students to complete an integrative internship of at least 12 weeks at a national or international company. Students receive support from the respective department in organizing this internship and are supervised in coordination with the company.

3 Persons in front of their laptops, watching a presentation

Our department and the MCI Career Center regularly provide up-to-date information about internship positions and the situation on the labor market in general.

As part of practice-oriented projects, students are provided with the opportunity to work with local and international businesses. This allows them to immediately apply their newly acquired knowledge in practice and in collaboration with the project team. Their theoretical knowledge is further deepened by a mandatory internship of several weeks duration.

Svenja Lassen, Managing Director primeCROWD Germany

The early connection of theory and practice is what makes the MCI so special to me. I am therefore delighted to have the opportunity to pass on my personal experience in the fields of media, moderation, communication and business networks to students so that they can actively try them out and apply them practically in business. Above all, I hope to encourage students to put their own ideas into practice, to set up or participate in start-ups - because we need well-trained founders and diverse teams with innovative ideas to make Europe successful in the long run.

Svenja Lassen, Managing Director primeCROWD Germany

Christian Lamp; Digital Marketing Manager SOS-Kinderdorf

We are an NGO and we are particularly dependent on addressing and activating our target groups with the most efficient marketing strategies possible. The direct cooperation with students of Management, Communication & IT at the MCI regularly brings us exciting inputs and new ideas for our activities.

Christian Lamp; Digital Marketing Manager SOS-Kinderdorf

Liezl Groenewald; Senior Manager Organizational Ethics; President Business Ethics Network of Africa (BEN-Africa); Independent Non-Executive Member of Council: CPUT

In my current positions as Senior Manager Organisational Ethics at The Ethics Institute in South Africa and President of the Business Ethics Network of Africa, I have vast exposure to, and experience in, the practical application of business ethics theory in practice. It is sometimes, especially with a study field such as ethics, difficult to translate theory into everyday practice in a working environment. I am pleased that I can use my theoretical knowledge and practical experience to assist students in this regard.

Liezl Groenewald; Senior Manager Organizational Ethics; President Business Ethics Network of Africa (BEN-Africa); Independent Non-Executive Member of Council: CPUT

Research & Development

At the Entrepreneurial School®, providing a consistent link between science and practice has top priority. Therefore, we provide our students plenty of opportunity to put their newly acquired knowledge to practice, even during their studies. The collaboration with companies and organizations of different sizes and sectors forms one of the cornerstones of the MCI concept. Such cooperative work does not only benefit our students, but also, to a large extent our partners.
