Study Program: Mechatronics & Smart Technologies (Bachelor & Master)

When I look back at my time at MCI...

... I remember numerous moments of success, but also setbacks. I think of the personalities I had the chance to meet during my studies or the nights I studied intensively and worked on projects. These memories show the challenges and the commitment I had to invest in order to complete a part-time study program. It was a time of personal development and further education, which also helped me a lot in my personal and professional career afterwards.

How did your studies at MCI prepare you for your current job?

Before starting at MCI, I worked mainly in software development and programming for automation technology, which corresponds to classic software engineering. However, studying mechatronics and mechanical engineering at MCI helped me add the mechanical aspect to my skill repertoire. As a start-up founder, I need competencies that are required in an entrepreneurial context in addition to technical skills. In this respect, the knowledge I gained at MCI in the business-related courses helped me tremendously. Another decisive advantage of my MCI Mechatronics studies are the valuable contacts and friendships I was able to make during the five years of my studies. These networks are one of the most important factors of my success and have helped me to establish and further develop my start-up.

What would you tell someone who is considering studying at MCI?

Studying at MCI opens up a world of new opportunities and broadens your personal horizons in many ways. During your studies, skills such as time management, stamina and the ability to take in enough caffeine even in stressful times are often put to the test. It is important not to be discouraged by setbacks, because ultimately all students are in the same boat. Another advantage of studying at MCI is the community of students within a year. You might build friendships and acquaintances who support you during and beyond your studies.

What is your motto?

Always stay curious and do what you love!
