When I look back at my time at MCI...

I primarily remember the strong sense of cohesion within the program, the many group projects, and the open and honest exchange among students. I think of an environment in which I felt seen, taken seriously, and supported. I particularly appreciated the personal atmosphere, committed lecturers, and the wide range of courses that allowed space for different interests.

I also remember the strong link between the courses and the Sustainable Development Goals – the active focus on sustainability is very important to me personally. Especially formative for me was the opportunity to shape my own path during my studies – a highlight was my exchange semester in Portugal at the partner university Técnico Lisboa. This experience contributed greatly to my personal development and opened up new perspectives, and would not have been possible without the support and openness of MCI.

How did your studies at MCI prepare you for your current job?

My studies above all gave me confidence in my own abilities and encouraged me to pursue my own path. Through numerous group projects, practical content, and close interaction with lecturers, I learned to work independently, develop solutions as part of a team, and remain open to new topics. The fact that both my exchange semester and my thesis at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Freiburg were actively supported demonstrates how seriously MCI takes individual interests and personal development.

I particularly remember the final seminar, which provided ample space for exchange, diverse perspectives, and above all reflection on one’s own life path – not only professionally, but also personally. Ultimately, all of this enabled me to work as an engineer in a renewable energy company in Lisbon after graduation, for which I am very grateful.

What would you tell someone who is considering studying at MCI?

MCI offers a personal environment in which you are individually supported and encouraged to grow. You don’t need to know everything from the beginning or have a fixed plan – openness, commitment, and a willingness to learn are far more important. Much of the journey unfolds along the way, especially through the people around you who support, inspire, and encourage you.
