This event explores religion, culture, social cohesion, extremism, and migration through the lens of Jeroen Dewulf’s research. His work challenges the dominant Protestant narrative of African American Christianity by highlighting the significant role of Afro-Atlantic Catholics. Dewulf will present how these Catholic brotherhoods contributed to community cohesion and shaped the long-term development of African American religious and social structures.
