The Master program Mechatronics & Smart Technologies is a full-time or part-time degree program.

Full-time

In full-time studies, lectures and seminars are held on weekdays, with blocked units allowing for an intensive immersion into individual topics.
The classes usually take place from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 12:15 and / or from 13:30 to 16:45. In exceptional cases, the times may vary and the lessons and / or examinations may take place outside the specified times or possibly on Saturdays.

Part-time

A part-time study program is organized in such a way that students can pursue full-time employment. The content and scope of the part-time study program correspond to those of a full-time study program.

The courses and seminars usually take place on Friday afternoons (around 1pm to 10pm) and on Saturdays (8am to 5pm).

The Master’s program sets itself apart from other programs in that it provides students with the option to obtain a double degree. Thus, they can gain advanced knowledge in their chosen area of specialization as well as a second internationally recognized degree. Renowned institutions in the United States, Sevilla or in France offer places for studies abroad.

Graduates of the program are conferred the academic title of Master of Science in Engineering, in short MSc or M.Sc. This is attested by a leaving certificate, the Master diploma, the international diploma supplement, and further documents where relevant. MCI Alumni are entitled to combine their academic degree with the brand “MCI” to provide trust and orientation in an increasingly intransparent international education market. Example: BSc (MCI).

Studying abroad

One of the most essential components of MCI study programs is their international orientation. This is reflected not only in the curriculum and assigned projects, but also in the backgrounds of our faculty and students. Each program also includes the opportunity for students to spend a semester abroad at one of MCI’s many partner institutions.

Dr. Sabine Herlitschka, CEO Infineon Technologies, Villach

As one of the leading high-tech companies in Austria, Infineon Technologies Austria is, according to its growth strategy, always searching for high potentials. Due to the excellent problem solving skills of its alumni, especially in regard of interdisciplinarity, internationality and feasibilty, the MCI Mechatronics Master program is one of the most promising programs in Austria.

Research & Development

At the Entrepreneurial School®, providing a consistent link between science and practice has top priority. Therefore, we provide our students plenty of opportunity to put their newly acquired knowledge to practice, even during their studies. The collaboration with companies and organizations of different sizes and sectors forms one of the cornerstones of the MCI concept. Such cooperative work does not only benefit our students, but also, to a large extent our partners.

  • Electronics

Dealing with electronic components and designing PCB’s are standard skills in industry. Building new systems out of systems of integrated circuits is a new challenging task, while dealing with energy efficiency, usability and reliability. The design of embedded systems will come more and more into the focus of standard industrial applications.

  • Fluids & Mechanics

The competences acquired in the last few years in the disciplines structural mechanics, particle technology and fluid mechanics have been pooled together in the cluster Fluids & Mechanics. The unique strengths of MCI are the interdisciplinary approaches and varied comprehensive methods such as the experimental verification of simulations or the application of control engineering concepts in mechanical systems. Nonetheless, it is of prevailing importance to find the most appropriate solution for the respective problem with regard on the general requirements.

  • Health Tech

The use of technology in healthcare and related areas such as sports or gerontology has changed dramatically in recent decades.

One of the main reasons for this change is a fundamental change in society. Society is moving away from an almost exclusively curative approach and moving towards a holistic, preventive and, not least, integrative approach. The focus is on the person as such and not exclusively on the person in his or her role as a patient. In parallel, the available technological and information technology options have also developed rapidly.

The research area is therefore dedicated to the challenge of combining innovative technologies with new approaches in medicine, health care, sports and tourism, and from this to develop digital products and services in cooperation with partners from industry and research or to support their development. The overall goal is always to maintain and/or restore people's health or support their health care in the best possible way.

  • Smart Production & Organization

Ever-changing demands on companies and their production facilities, processes and organizational structures are posing ever-greater challenges. The evaluation of new products, business models and production processes as well as the modernization of existing facilities is the basis for future competitiveness. The targeted use of modern technologies and production simulations, the preparation and analysis of data and the optimization of value-added processes lead to a holistic view of production and organization.
