Welcome to MCI - The Entrepreneurial School®
The European Health Economics & Management (Eu-HEM) Master’s degree offered by MCI, the Universities of Bologna and Oslo, as well as Erasmus University Rotterdam, equips students with everything they need for a career in an international environment. The program was introduced in 2012 and, already in 2015, attained accreditation as well as quality assessment by respective bodies in Austria, the Netherlands, Italy, and Norway. From 2018-2020, the Eu-HEM program was recognized as Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree by the European Commission.
The harmonized first semester, which is taught at the University of Bologna, aims to acquire the basics relevant to the healthcare sector in the fields of economics, management, law, political science and research methods. Another distinct feature of the European Master’s is its provision of altogether four areas of specialization available to students from the second semester: Management of Healthcare Institutions, Economic Evaluation in Healthcare, Economics & Policy, and Population Health Management.
The program is based on blended learning. Consequently, it combines online modules with on-campus classes. On the one hand, this guarantees a large degree of flexibility and, on the other hand, it provides plenty of opportunity for interaction with teachers and fellow students.
European Health Economics & Management primarily targets graduate students aiming to contribute to the development of the healthcare sector. Completion of this course enables them to assume managerial positions in healthcare institutions, pharmaceutical companies, international organizations, and many more institutions related to the field.

Another core feature of the Eu-HEM program is its international orientation: it provides its students with the opportunity to spend each semester at a different institution, where a minimum of two institutions have to be attended in the course of the study program. The international perspective of the degree program is also reflected in its lecturers and students, who come from all over the world.
The second year of the study program offers the opportunity to participate in an optional mentoring program. The goal is to provide the students who are in their last year of study with coaching and support, thus creating a transitional phase between study and professional life.
As part of the mentoring program, students will be able to get in touch with faculty and practice partners, who will then assist them in finding potential research topics for the Master's thesis and employment opportunities.
