Major in Medical Technology

In developed countries, medical technology is a rapidly growing market due to technological advances and an ageing society. The demand for appropriately educated, trained and experienced specialists in these fields continues to rise accordingly.

In most cases, industrially developed technologies prove to be unsuitable for the use in medical care, as they neglect the complexity of the human body and other requirements for safety and effectiveness when used on patients. It is therefore crucial that a medical technology degree program considers all these aspects. The aim is not only to train engineers, but rather to train graduates with specific expertise at the interface of technology and the complex anatomy and physiology of the human body, who can simultaneously ensure safety in their use on patients.

Together with its partners, MCI has combined the latest trends in medical technology, such as processor-controlled prostheses and implantable devices, with current global developments in digitalization in this degree program. In addition to the traditional content of the development, testing and approval of medical technology products, the course also focuses on recently emerging topics such as app development, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, medical robotics and personalized medicine. Additional courses in the areas of leadership, management and entrepreneurship address business topics that are useful for a potential self-employed career as well as in management positions.

Research & Development

At the Entrepreneurial School®, providing a consistent link between science and practice has top priority. Therefore, we provide our students plenty of opportunity to put their newly acquired knowledge to practice, even during their studies. The collaboration with companies and organizations of different sizes and sectors forms one of the cornerstones of the MCI concept. Such cooperative work does not only benefit our students, but also, to a large extent our partners.

The consistent linking of science and practice is a central concern of the Entrepreneurial School®. For this reason, we give our students the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have acquired in practice during their studies. Cooperation with companies and organizations is an essential cornerstone of this. Both our practice partners and our students benefit greatly from this cooperation.
